Calligraphy Talent Class Launched – Preserving Culture, Writing a Beautiful New Life

To cultivate the temperament of inmates, foster an atmosphere of culture and art, enhance literary and artistic literacy, and improve overall demeanor, this institution has officially launched a calligraphy talent class. The aim is to strengthen the function of correctional education and achieve the goal of moral instruction. Through the practice of calligraphy, inmates are encouraged to reflect inwardly before picking up the brush, express their character through their strokes, and promote the beauty of Chinese cultural arts by integrating the art of calligraphy into the aesthetics of daily life.

We are honored to invite Ms. Zhou Juan, a dedicated and patient instructor with practical experience in teaching calligraphy, to guide this class. The course content includes correct pen-holding posture, basic strokes and structure, application examples of brush techniques, instruction in the use of brush methods, teaching of character structure, and practice with different styles of writing, among other topics. These lessons are designed to help inmates establish a solid foundation in calligraphy, improve their skills, and cultivate patience and concentration.

Calligraphy, praised as a treasure of Chinese traditional culture, is a unique form that blends art and culture. Through the writing of Chinese characters, inmates are encouraged to develop an interest in calligraphy, appreciate the beauty of the brushwork, and savor the aesthetic and philosophical depth of poetry and maxims as they write. This will deepen their understanding of Chinese traditional culture and help them establish a positive outlook on life. Through this activity, inmates will experience the infinite charm of Chinese traditional culture, enhance their aesthetic sense, promote cultural enrichment, and subtly develop graceful character traits.
