Mother's Day Family Gathering Event - Interacting with Family to Soothe Hearts, Recognizing Fraud and Preventing Fraud to Maintain Safety
In order to alleviate the inmates' feelings of homesickness, and to encourage them to repent, turn over a new leaf, and regain a new direction in their lives through the support of their families, the Bade minimum security Prison, Agency of Corrections, Ministry of Justice held a “Face-to-Face Inmates' Family Appreciation Activity” on April 27th just before Mother's Day, so that the inmates could be reunited with their loved ones and enjoy a rare moment of family bonding, which would further promote family relationships and strengthen their emotional ties, and lay a solid foundation for the inmates' path of recovery after release from incarceration.
On the day of the event, the venue was filled with warmth and anticipation. The faces of the Participating inmates were filled with longing, and the moment their relatives stepped into the meeting place and met each other's eyes, an unspeakable joy and emotion prevailed instantly. During the event, the inmates and their families exchanged greetings and care, and there were even hugs and tears, fully demonstrating the deep emotional connection between family members. Through the family bonding activities, the long-lost ties and thoughts of each other could be released, which in effect brought them closer to each other.
The event was also combined with anti-fraud propaganda. Posters with fraud prevention graphics were posted at the event site to remind family members and shelter residents to pay attention to common fraudulent techniques, and anti-fraud videos were shown to enhance participants' ability to recognize and prevent fraud. In addition, the political affairs staff also took this opportunity to educate the public on ways to handle consumer disputes and channels to protect their rights, to strengthen their consumer and rights protection capabilities, while an on-site questionnaire survey was conducted to understand participants' knowledge and suggestions on integrity issues, which will serve as an important basis for future policies and publicity strategies. The event was centered on family love, it not only enhanced the emotional connection of families, but also promoted practical knowledge of the rule of law and fraud prevention for the participants.
Wu,Shu-Hsien, director of the Taoyuan branch of the Taiwan After-Care Association(TACA), was also present at the event. In addition to distributing relevant promotional materials and caring for the sheltered persons, she interacted with a number of family members, explaining the assistance and services provided by TACA in the process of sheltered persons' reintegration, and emphasizing that support from society's resources has a positive impact on the sheltered persons' smooth reintegration into their families and into society.
During the event, the Superintendent also prepared meals and drinks, so that the 20 residents and 39 family members who participated in the activity could spend the holidays together in a warm and cozy environment to express their gratitude and blessings to their mothers, and the whole activity ended successfully with a lot of emotion and farewells.Huang Hong-Hsi, Warden of the Prison, said that although monthly home visits are arranged under the minimum security prison system, Mother's Day is a holiday of affection and gratitude. Through face-to-face, unobstructed family bonding activities, not only do the inmates meet their loved ones on this special holiday, but also further strengthen their sense of identity and responsibility towards their family roles. The comfort and understanding from the relatives in the activity helped rebuild the trust and belonging between the inmates and their families and society, which in turn inspired their inner strength of repentance, and injected hope and motivation for their smooth reintegration into their families and society in the future, and for the start of a brand-new chapter in their lives.
