To promote the development of good exercise and leisure habits among detainees, and to enhance their interest in and stress relief through table tennis by organizing sports competitions. The goal is also to improve their table tennis skills through competition, cultivate a sense of teamwork and honor, on November 16, 2023, the detention center organized a table tennis doubles competition. A total of 19 teams, with 38 inmates representing various units, participated in this competition.

Table tennis has always been one of the most popular and fiercely competitive sports in the detention center, and doubles matches showcase the best demonstration of cooperation. As the competition progressed, each participant gave their best effort, engaging in a back-and-forth battle of strong attacks and defenses, showcasing excellent teamwork. After several intense rounds, the winners gradually emerged. Each participant persevered until the last moment, striving for individual and team honors. Regardless of victory or defeat, participants expressed encouragement and blessings to their opponents after the game.

Through this process, detainees gained an understanding of the principles of not being arrogant in victory and not giving up in defeat. They fully demonstrated the spirit of sportsmanship, incorporating the meaning of rehabilitation into the competition. One detainee, Alan (alias), expressed that although he usually played in singles matches and had limited opportunities to partner with others, overall, he performed well. However, the opponents in the doubles match had excellent coordination skills, especially in the second game, which was a bit regrettable. Despite some mistakes towards the end, he was eliminated. He congratulated his opponents on their placement and hoped for similar events in the near future to strive for honor.

After intense competition, the winners stood out, and Commissioner Wu, the supervisor, personally presented the prizes at the competition venue. He expressed the hope that every participant would uphold the spirit of not being arrogant in victory and not giving up in defeat in any event in life, constantly reminding themselves to win the next victory in their lives!
