To enhance the professional knowledge and skills of correctional institution volunteers and strengthen the effectiveness of counseling, our facility held the "2024 Volunteer Training Program" on November 19 in the briefing room on the third floor of the administration building. The event was inaugurated by Warden Huang Hongxi, who extended a warm welcome and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the volunteers' selfless dedication in assisting various educational and counseling initiatives. He emphasized the correctional institution's unwavering commitment to education and reform over the years, highlighting the need for collaborative efforts between volunteers and correctional staff. He also called on the volunteers to continue their invaluable support after the establishment of the new facility next year, sowing seeds of hope in the hearts of inmates and nurturing their growth with care and passion, so that the blossoms of rebirth may flourish within the prison walls.

The program featured a special lecture by Associate Professor Hsieh Wen-Yen from the Department of Criminal Justice, Ming Chuan University. The lecture focused on "Restorative Justice and Volunteer Counseling Ethics," providing insights into techniques for communicating with inmates and introducing the fundamental concepts of restorative justice and counseling ethics. These lessons aimed to better equip volunteers for future counseling efforts. A total of 19 volunteers participated in the training, all of whom found the course arrangements highly engaging and rewarding.
