Spring Couplets Writing Event to Spread Warmth and Welcome the New Year
As the Lunar New Year approaches, Bade Minimum-Security Prison collaborated with the Taoyuan Branch of the Taiwan After-Care Association to hold a unique "Spring Couplets Writing Event to Spread Warmth and Welcome the New Year" on December 25 in the prison's calligraphy talent class. Calligraphy teacher Zhou Juan, along with 17 inmates, enthusiastically participated in the event, skillfully writing spring couplets symbolizing good fortune and presenting them to the public to share warmth and blessings.
The event was filled with a festive New Year atmosphere as inmates enthusiastically showcased their exceptional calligraphy skills and deep cultural heritage on red paper. Each spring couplet reflected their hopes for the coming year and gratitude toward society, while also conveying a positive and uplifting attitude toward life.
The Taoyuan Branch of the Taiwan After-Care Association stated that this event not only provided inmates with an opportunity to showcase their talents and give back to society but also allowed the public to feel their determination to turn over a new leaf. By distributing spring couplets, the event bridged the gap between the prison and the community, fostering greater understanding and inclusivity in society.
Huang Hongxi, the warden of Bade Minimum-Security Prison, stated that the prison has always been committed to providing diverse recreational and cultural activities to cultivate inmates' interests, enhance their literary skills, and boost their confidence and social adaptability. The collaboration with the Taiwan After-Care Association to hold this handwritten spring couplets event is a successful endeavor. Moving forward, the prison plans to continue promoting similar activities to help inmates affirm their self-worth and successfully reintegrate into society.
