Throwing Competition for Recreational Activities

In order to encourage the inmates to develop proper leisure interests and promote their physical and mental health, the Badeh Correctional Facility of the Ministry of Justice organized the “Throwing Competition”on February 18, 2025, providing a platform for the inmates to show their self-expression and build up their self-confidence. The event was well-received, with 27 inmates participating in the event, and the atmosphere at the scene was lively, fully demonstrating the inmates' positive and challenging spirit.

The focus of the competition was to throw the Frisbee accurately across the designated target, and points were awarded according to the number of times the Frisbee was successfully thrown. During the competition, the hosts paid full attention to the game and demonstrated their high concentration and skills, as well as the sportsmanship of each other. The cheering sound from the side of the field was loud and clear, and both the participants and observers, as well as the inmates and staff, were fully engaged in the competition, encouraging the athletes to perform at their best.

Huang Hong-Hsi, Warden of the Prison, said that apart from providing basic life care to the inmates, the Correctional Services Department attaches more importance to their physical and mental development. By organizing diversified correctional activities, such as the Throwing Competition, it not only helps the inmates to release their pressure and exercise their body, but also guides them to cultivate positive interests and develop good habits in life. It is hoped that the hosts will apply the focused attitude and the spirit of hard work in the competition to their future studies and lives, and face challenges positively in order to prepare for their return to society.

The competition does not only provide an opportunity for the hosts to express themselves, but also strengthens self-confidence and builds a sense of achievement through the positive power of sports. The value of the competition is not only in winning and losing, but also in fostering the spirit of not being proud of their victories and not being discouraged by their defeats, and encouraging them to face future challenges with a steady and mature attitude and move forward to a brand new life.
