To enable inmates to express their love, gratitude, and longing to their families ahead of Mother’s Day, and to strengthen their motivation for reintegration through family support, the institution held a Mother’s Day Telephone Family Visit Program on April 29,2026. Inmates were arranged to convey their greetings and care to family members via telephone. Through sincere conversations and warm reminders, inmates not only expressed their deep concern for their loved ones but also felt encouragement and hope through emotional connection, instilling positive energy for a fresh start in the future.
In the past, the institution primarily housed inmates assigned to outside work programs. In response to correctional policy adjustments and changing custodial needs, a branch unit was established in March of this year (Year 115) to begin housing general inmates. This event also marked the first time that inmates from the branch unit were included, demonstrating the institution’s proactive efforts to enhance family support for all inmates.
During the event, inmate Xiaokang expressed heartfelt gratitude to his wife over the phone, acknowledging her long-term efforts in single-handedly supporting the family while taking on both maternal and paternal roles and caring for their children. Xiaokang stated that his wife’s dedication deeply moved him and strengthened his determination to take responsibility for his family in the future and make up for his past absence.
Another inmate, Xiaoxin, used the call to convey his love and appreciation to his mother, while also asking about her recent health and urging her to take good care of herself. During the conversation, Xiaoxin recalled his mother’s years of selfless tolerance and hard work, becoming emotional several times. This experience allowed him to deeply appreciate the greatness of maternal love and cherish the opportunity for a new beginning.
The institution also extends special thanks to Chunghwa Telecom Taoyuan Operations Office for upholding its corporate social responsibility by generously providing ten telephone lines free of charge, ensuring the smooth execution of the event. This enabled inmates to bridge physical distance and transform unspoken longing into heartfelt greetings, creating a warm and touching atmosphere. Mother’s Day is a meaningful occasion to express love and gratitude, and family support has a profound impact on inmates. Through this telephone family visit program, inmates were not only comforted emotionally but also encouraged to strengthen family bonds and reinforce their determination to reform.
In addition, anti-fraud awareness videos were played on-site, using real-life cases to enhance inmates’ understanding of fraud schemes and prevention methods. A total of 157 inmates participated in this event. The warmth of family affection traveled across distances through telephone lines, delivering boundless care ahead of Mother’s Day and injecting steady and heartfelt support into the inmates’ journey of rebuilding their lives.
