To help ease inmates longing for their loved ones and to encourage reflection on past actions and a commitment to positive change through the support of family, the Agency of Corrections, Ministry of Justice Bede Minimum Security Prison held the 115th Annual Face-to-Face Family Visitation Event for inmates ahead of. The event allowed inmates and their families to reunite at close range and share precious moments together in a warm and caring atmosphere. By strengthening family bonds, the program also aimed to lay a solid foundation for inmates’ successful reintegration into society in the future.

The inmates housed at Bade Branch Prison are general offenders, rather than inmates of minimum security prisons who are permitted home visits. Therefore, in addition to continuing the tradition and significance of the family visitation event, this occasion also marked the first time Bade Branch Prison organized a face-to-face family visitation activity for general inmates, making it especially meaningful. As family members entered the venue and their eyes met for the first time in a long while, many inmates could hardly contain their emotions. Heartfelt scenes of tightly clasped hands and tearful embraces could be seen throughout the event. Every greeting and word of encouragement not only conveyed deep longing and care, but also released the worries and emotions that had built up over time, further strengthening and deepening the bonds of family affection.

A total of 18 inmates and 31 family members participated in the event. Ah-Hua (pseudonym), who is serving a sentence for robbery, became deeply emotional upon seeing his mother. Choking back tears, he shared that his past mistakes had caused his family great worry and pressure. He expressed his deepest gratitude to his mother for always standing by his side, never giving up on him, and continuously offering support and encouragement. He told his mother that he would cherish this unwavering family bond, transform his family’s expectations into motivation for change, work hard to maintain a stable and disciplined life during his incarceration, and one day repay his mother’s love and patience through concrete actions. In addition to emphasizing family interaction, the event also incorporated anti-fraud awareness promotion. Informational displays and related videos were arranged at the venue to introduce inmates and their families to common scam tactics and appropriate prevention measures, thereby enhancing their awareness and ability to recognize and prevent fraud. Through this subtle yet meaningful form of outreach, participants were able not only to experience the warmth of family affection, but also to develop a stronger respect for the rule of law and greater awareness of self-protection.

In addition, the Taoyuan Branch of the Taiwan After-Care Association(TCAC), was also present to provide care and support. Besides offering a variety of informational resources, representatives warmly interacted with family members and explained available rehabilitation support services and assistance measures. This helped families better understand the support systems that inmates may access during their future reintegration into society, further strengthening the connection between family and social support networks. Bade Minimum security Prison stated that is not only an important occasion to express gratitude for parental love, but also an opportunity to reinforce family support and encourage self-reflection. Through sincere face-to-face interaction, the event not only helps repair family relationships, but also inspires inmates to develop a stronger sense of responsibility and motivation for positive change. In the future, the prison will continue integrating family care with legal and civic education, assisting inmates in steadily progressing along the path toward successful reintegration and a renewed life.
